Geoffrey became the Chairman of NCRQ in 2016. Formerly the Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Executive, Geoffrey has been committed to driving up standards and competence throughout the health and safety profession for many years – at a British, European and International level. He has held four British and international Chief Executive posts in the public health and regulatory sectors, namely as Chief Executive of the UK’s Health and Safety Executive, the European Food Safety Agency, the UK’s Food Standards Agency and most recently as Acting Chief Executive of WorkSafe New Zealand. Geoffrey ensures that the qualifications of NCRQ remain of exceptional quality, so that both employers and regulators can be assured that holders of the qualifications are the most competent and capable in the world.
He is currently Senior Visiting Research Fellow, Kings College Centre for Risk Management, Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority Review Panel, a lay Council Member of the Royal College of Radiologists, a member of the Standards Board of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and Chair of HM Government Actuary Department. In addition, he is Honorary Vice President of IOSH, Honorary Fellow of IIRSM, Honorary Vice-President of CIEH, and Companion of the Chartered Management Institute.
